I know Belle would prefer NOT to be under a spotlight all day.  But.....vet says leave the light there for a little longer so the pups can stay warm.  Tomorrow is suppose to be the day that most puppies begin opening their eyes.  We shall see :)

12 Days Old

4 of the puppies are 2 pounds.  Wow!  I don't think we could love these little puppies any more :)

11 Days Old

The trip to the vet went very well.  Puppies are doing great.  She clipped their tiny little nails so they wouldn't scratch momma as much.  The were also given deworming medication (protocol).  Their eyes should open by the weekend.  I noticed this morning that a couple of them are trying to walk.  So cute!!!

10 Days Old

We are headed for a check up this morning.  They are growing so fast.  I'm not sure how long I will be able to keep them in the laundry basket for vet visits!

All of them are over a pound!  And some are close to 2 pounds!  Wow!

By the way, our last precious puppy was spoken for last night.  We do get to keep 2 of the pups til after Christmas, so the kids were excited to hear that :)

6 Days Old

Puppies have grown overnight again.  So sweet!!  Every morning we put the puppies in the laundry basket so we can clean their area.  They actually love snuggling with each other in there!  

5 Days Old

Puppies are doing great!  We weighed them this morning. Largest girl is 18.4 oz.  Smallest girl is 12 oz.  Largest boy is 19.5 oz.  Smallest boy is 13.9oz.  The picture is of the smallest and largest puppy.  We are having so much fun with them :)  

4 Days Old

They are growing!  Smallest girl 10.2 oz,  Largest girl 16.4, Smallest boy 11.2 oz,  Largest boy 16 oz

 3 Days Old

We can't seem to get enough of these puppies!  They are so precious.  They are all growing so strong and big.  They are getting more settled into this world and crying less and less. We are making sure the littlest ones are getting enough of mommas milk.  Some of the big ones are little pushy!!  lol  I will start weighing them today just to keep a record.

Belle and the puppies are doing amazing!  They are growing so fast!  One of the boys is even getting a little tummy on him :)    

1 Day Old

We took the puppies to the vet today for a general check up. All puppies are very healthy and strong.  There is a pretty big weight difference.  Smallest is 7.6 ounces, largest is 12.4 ounces.  They go back for deworming in 2 weeks.  Momma is doing well also.  Loving her babies :)

All 9 puppies are doing great.  I think they have grown some since last night!  They are so adorable.  Belle is a wonderful mother (as we expected).  It's so hard to get her to go outside even for 5 seconds.  She doesn't want to leave her babies AT all.  I even saw her bring one closer to her body this morning with her front paw.  So cute!!  

She just had 2 more puppies!  10 total.  But sadly, one didn't make it.  So sad.  We tried to revive it for 45 minutes.  So that's 5 girls 4 boys.  

We have 8 beautiful puppies!  4 girls and 4 boys.  Wow.  Belle is the best mother ever.  So gently and sweet to her babies!

We have 7 puppies!!!!  3 girls and 4 boys :)  I can't believe it!!

We have a puppy!!!!  Baby girl!!!!  Amazing!!  Born 1:00pm.  Doing great!  

She's been panting since 7am.  I'm definitely thinking we will have puppies today!  Yay!  She keeps trying to go outside and nest in the dirt.  Poor thing.  She really wants to have those babies in the dirt!  I read that they sometimes like to shred newspapers while in labor.  We will try to keep her in the whelping box while inside.  Of course she will always have a buddy by her side all day :)

Day 61   Temp 99.6   She's not following me around as usual.  Our leather couch is where she wants to be for now :)   She definitely seems to be a little nervous and out of sorts.  

Temp 99.1   Late this afternoon Belle was pacing and panting.  I thought it was going to happen tonight!  But then she stopped!  Since her temp is now the lowest it's been, maybe we aren't far off now.  Will see how the night goes :)   She's sleeping now.  

Day 60!!!!  Temp 99.9.  Ugg!!  Well I guess she is waiting to go into labor.  All seems just fine though.  Those puppies just keep growing :)

Day 59.  We are getting close!!  Temp 99.4 today.  It may be on it's way down.  I will check her again later today.  So excited :)

Day 58.  Temp 100.5.  Belle and puppies doing well.  I guess this is just a waiting game :)  The other day the vet said dogs are usually VERY punctual having puppies.  He said day "60" is almost always true.  We will see!!

Day 57.  Temp 99.8.  Puppies are doing great.  I felt one kick again this morning!

Day 56.  I began taking her temperature this morning to detect impending labor.  When there is a significant drop, labor should begin within 24 hours.  This morning she is 99.6.  I always spend quality time with her early in the mornings while it's quiet at my house.  So after rubbing her belly for a while, I was able to feel the puppies move!  It was so sweet!  

Day 55 of her pregnancy.  She's doing great!  Spoiled as ever :)  Her appetite has slowed down a bit.  She has really enjoyed all the TLC.  What a precious little momma :)

Well today we took Belle to have an xray to see how many puppies she is having.  We only saw 4!  Good news is that the vet said ALL look very healthy.  He said a lot of times the first litter is smaller.  If she does well, we may do this all over again in 4 months!  

Belle is slowing down a bit more & beginning to nest.  Unfortunately it's in the dirt around our banana plants outside!  Hopefully we won't have puppies in the dirt :)   She's still sweeter than ever.

Belle is just a week away from having her puppies!!  We are all so excited!  She is getting used to her whelping area and is getting lots and lots of love :)  She also had her "maternity groom" this past weekend and feels like a queen.
